This Privacy Policy describes how TackRoom ("we", "us", "the app") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the TackRoom iOS app and related services. TackRoom is a marketplace for buying and selling horse tack in New Zealand.
1. Who is the data controller
The data controller is the operator of TackRoom, Dr Khurram Shahid, contactable at support@tackroom.co.nz.
2. Information we collect
You provide to us
- Account information: full name, email address, password (hashed), region, optional phone number, optional bio and avatar.
- Listing content: photos, titles, descriptions, categories, prices, condition and attributes you enter.
- Messages: content of conversations you send to other users.
- Voice input: when you use voice-assisted listing, audio is transcribed on-device; the transcript is sent to Anthropic to extract listing fields. We do not store the audio.
- Reports you submit about other users or content.
- Terms and privacy acceptances, with timestamp and version.
Collected automatically
- Listing views and saves (product interaction).
- Device identifiers provided by Apple for the session.
- Approximate location (coarse) based on the region you select.
Collected by our service providers
- Stripe, Inc. collects card and payment information when you complete a purchase. TackRoom does not receive or store full card numbers.
- Supabase hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
- Anthropic processes transcripts of your voice listings to extract structured data.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the marketplace: show relevant listings, enable messaging, process payments, prevent fraud.
- To enforce our Terms of Service, review reports, and moderate content.
- To improve the app's functionality and diagnose issues.
- To contact you about your account, transactions, or important service changes.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising, nor share it with third parties for their marketing purposes.
4. Tracking
TackRoom does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
5. Sharing with other users
Your public profile (name, avatar, region, listings, ratings) is visible to other users of TackRoom. Messages are visible only to participants in that conversation.
6. Retention
We keep your account information until you delete your account. Listings marked sold or deleted are retained for record-keeping. You can request permanent deletion of your account by contacting support — we will delete your account within 30 days, subject to legal retention obligations for completed transactions.
7. Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and, where applicable, GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information. Email support@tackroom.co.nz to exercise these rights.
8. Children
TackRoom is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard practices: TLS in transit, hashed passwords, row-level security on all user data, and principle-of-least-privilege for database access.
10. International transfers
Our service providers (Supabase, Stripe, Anthropic) may process data outside of New Zealand. These providers operate under recognised privacy frameworks.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will require you to accept the new version before continuing to use the app.
