This Privacy Policy describes how Knockoff ("we", "us", "the app") handles your information when you use the Knockoff iOS app. Knockoff is a job-logging app for tradespeople.
1. Who is the data controller
The data controller is Dr Khurram Shahid (sole trader, Australia), contactable at knockoff@claritapp.au.
2. Your data stays on your device
Knockoff is designed to keep your business data local. Jobs, customer details, materials, notes, labour rates, and generated PDFs are stored on your device in the app's sandboxed storage. We do not operate a server that collects your job data.
3. What leaves your device
- Voice transcripts: When you use Voice Debrief, Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer transcribes your speech on the device. The resulting text transcript is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to extract structured job fields (customer, hours, materials, payment). The audio is never transmitted — only the text.
- StoreKit subscription signals: If you subscribe, Apple's StoreKit communicates the purchase to Apple. We receive only the receipt needed to unlock Pro features.
- Analytics: We do not collect analytics in this version.
4. What Knockoff stores about you
- Your business profile (name, ABN/EIN, labour rate, logo) — entered by you.
- Customer details (name, address, phone) — entered or dictated by you.
- Job data (hours, materials, totals, payment status, follow-ups) — entered or dictated by you.
- Your subscription status — derived from Apple StoreKit.
All of the above is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.
5. Tracking
Knockoff does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. There is no IDFA access.
6. Service providers
- Apple: Provides the StoreKit payment framework and on-device speech recognition.
- Anthropic: Processes Voice Debrief transcripts to extract job fields. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Transcripts are not retained for training under Anthropic's default API terms.
7. Your rights
Because your data lives only on your device, you control it directly. Delete a job inside the app or uninstall Knockoff to remove all local data. If you have questions about your data rights, email knockoff@claritapp.au.
8. Children
Knockoff is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
9. Changes
If this Policy changes materially, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in-app.
